After 3 years of absence, the North Weald rally have finally returned in the 2007 season.
Unfortunately, because of the anticipated poor weather, the vehicle turnout was not as
impressive as I was hoping. Despite that, being one of the 3 biggest rally of the season,
there had been a number of interesting attendees as well.
The inevitable usual suspects:
There have been some fairly new participants in the rally circus, like the Merseybus Titan
2122, recently restored following withdrawal from Stagecoach Merseyside/GTL.
...and the former London Metrobus M1000
But the star of the show goes to the Volvo Ailsa V3. At long last, it has been restored to
its original configuration. This bus is currently owned by the former owner of Blue Triangle.
It was involved in an accident in late 1992, when it turned over in bad weather
whilst in service at Potters Bar. The bus was written off but then bought by Black
Prince of Morley, and eventually restored it back to roadworthy condition in 2004.
It was not until Blue Triangle bought this bus when it was finally rebuilt to its dual
door configuration.
