Today 4th July 2009 marked the final day of Coventry Metrobus in service. Although it is a sad day to see the most popular bus type in West Midland finally being withdrawn after 30 years of reliable service. National Express Coventry garage organised one of the 6 remaining MCW - a 21 years old 3036 featured a special run on 4 routes: 33, 15, 13 and 10.
First trip at 9am on 33, Bell Green - City
Then a trip on the 15, City - Finham
A trip on the 13, City - Whitmore Park
Finally a trip on the 10, City - Eastern Green
Returning to the garage after the last trip
3063 was pulled on to the pump after the final trip in service.
Through the wash for the last time.

DA50, you're so efficient in uploading the photos this time!
I nearly missed this important event yesterday...just met this by accident!
But it's a pity that my camera was running out of battery and I couldn't take many photos...
3036 didn't make its final service on rt.36 eventually? I just left after my ride on rt.10...
Awww.... I really hope I could be there on the last day...
But it's really impressive to see that there's some special activities happening on this special date, and I can feel the importance of the MCWs to the company and staff.
I still remember my only journey on Coventry's MCW is with route 19. It's unforgettable indeed and is so different with all the ALX400s nowadays.
Goodbye and Thanks, Coventry MCWs
* Is there any information about when will the Birmingham MCWs be in service till? Thanks.
