No. They do share the same front chassis module and the engine.
Just a couple of correction on my previous post. V6's unladen weight is actually 10,835kg. With that it can carry 100 passengers (layout: H41/22D+37), making it currently the highest capacity bus in service within the London Buses network.
D9B won't do for Euro 6, for that it will be the new, and slightly smaller 7.7L D8K engine, which is available with an output between 280 - 350 bhp. If that happens, it will be the B8TL that we will see instead.

In the latest Buses, they specifically said there will not be a 3-axle version of B5TL.
I am not sure if that means the chassis will never have a 3-axle option, or if it is just the powertrain that will not.

They have already covered the B7RLE's replacement with B8RLE.
For the tri-axle option, a B8TL makes better sense because of the power needed for the air-cond. However, I won't be surprised if they go all out to offer a hybrid only, i.e. tri-axle B5LH. They are doing that for the 7900 these days, which has no diesel only version anymore. So why not, esp. if they can keep the price down?
