With proper planning and public transport service, car ownership and usage can be suppressed.
The average car ownership in the well off inner suburb is around one per family;
but the figure rises to two to three per family when it comes to the poor outer suburb.
The main reason is that inner suburb has much better public transport service and the living environment is more compact.
Much more medium income population in Singapore own a car.
