15th Nov 1979 普惠飛機發動機公司於11月15日宣佈日本航空已選擇普惠的JT8D-15引擎做為15架波音737-200 Adv.HGW的飛機引擎，引擎訂單總價值超過2億歐元。這份確認訂單同時包括備用引擎以及一份長期JT8D-15SelectSM售後支援服務拹議。這些新訂購的飛機將於1980年1月全部交付完畢。總計加上現有機隊中的飛機及已確認訂單，日本航空的飛機總數將達到140架。
