In Seattle, there are over 235 New Flyer DE60LF Hybrid bus on the road, However, they found out the Cummins ISM doesn't fit well with the GE Hybrid driver unit, therefore, they use Catapella C9 instead, and so far no problem with them, maybe HK can try this spec: Catapella C9, with GE Hybrid unit and Allison Gearbox/ ZF
However, I didn't see such problem in US/ Can built Hybrid bus in Seattle wor, they seems to work well @ a 20 hour shift, and alot of seattle doesn't have terminus, (ie: rt. 372--> 72--> 132) in a single journey that takes probably 1 1/2 -3 hrs. therefore they are constantly running, plus the bus is 60ft long, and quite heavy, but they still cope well.

I am agree with you too NV58, TfL do not consider to large scale deploy of Hybrid bus because Euro4 buses are performing better than expected. I was in Hong Kong last December 2006, the difference between Euro3 and Euro4 buses behind their exhaust can be easily identified. Euro4 bus emits iron 'rusty' smell from their exhaust similar to London and which are more 'tolerated' then Euro3 black smoke.
