Which clearly doesn't imply that you want to put additional structure across the front
does it?
Even under your suggestion, on a double decker body, there simply space to do that,
unless you take away the windscreen completely. You can beef up the structural strength
below the lower deck windscreen as much as you like, but it takes away the crumble
zone which take away some of the impact in a crash, and more importantly, it add no
strength to the front, above the lower deck in particular.
To solve that problem, what you need to beef up is the upper deck floor and the floor
as well to give sufficient support to the front panel, as well as replacing the front module
with tougher materiel as well. But it adds weight and will not solve the problem completely.
The thing is, you can add as much strength to the body as you like, but none of these
measure is a good substitute than adaquate training to drivers to ensure they drive in a
safe, and above all, alert manner.
