After I check the information, you are correct.  However, HKO does not state there is shortly sunny when this only happens in the morning, but not in afternoon.  Breakdown sunshine after 1600!

The sunshine hour on 5/19: 1.6 hours (before 1300)

Therefore, to show that shortly sunny that is available, you should go to HKO webpage to find the information.  If you see the sunshine hour != 0.0 hours, then the shortly sunny may be valid in real situation (but not in HKO statements).

This typhoon goes northeastward and crosses the northwest Pacific Ocean.
So can it come to Hong Kong?  Of course, no way!

Yes, you are correct, and HKO is good at stating the shower-T-shower-thunderstorm.  However, it cannot state the sunny period well expecially the latest 2 months.  For example, because of the lat (#232), HKO does not state there is both lati-sunshine-tude-thunderstorm between 5/10 - 5/13 because shortly sunny seems impossible with the shower.

Return to the days, because of the thunderstorm, HKO resigns the shortly sunny on 5/23 and even partly sunny if valid on 5/24.  This is true because we want another lati-thunderstorm from 5/25 - 5/26.  There may be shortly sunny if you are lucky from 5/27 - 5/29, HKO always resigns the shortly sunny because the probability of shortly sunny is very low.

Do not forget the T-shower has been continuing, and no more sunshine seems possible, expecially the shortly sunny. (*5)

Solution:

You are too lucky to have some sunshine on 5/24 (shortly sunny after thunderstorm on 5/23).   
However, you must not want such thing: there is another lati-thunderstorm on 5/25 - 5/26, and hence stop the sun again.
Want another serious sunshine?  Please wait  until 5/29/07...
