The second of the Company Profile series brings us to Yorkshire, featuring East Yorkshire Motor Services. This is a very well respected company, with the heart of its operations in, of course, East Yorkshire.
It has a rather large fleet as an independent operator, with some 324 buses, and features quite a mix of types as well. Unfortunately, I haven't got around to look at their operations, so what's being featured here is, basically, just a tip of the iceburg in terms of the type of buses they have.
EYMS has a large fleet of Olympians. Although normally any operator prefer to stick with one bodywork, but EYMS ended up choosing quite a mixed bag:
The most unusual of all has to be the low-height Royale:
When they sourced for low floor double decker, a batch of Dennis Tridents and Volvo B7TLs were bought for evaluation. At the end, the B7TL won the day and EYMS acquired 55 examples with Plaxton/Transbus President or Wright Eclipse Gemini bodywork.
EYMS sticks with the Volvo/Wright combination as they move on to Euro 4 emission standards, and the latest member in the fleet includes the B9TL and B7RLE in Wright bodywork:
Enjoy and hopefully I will come up with a "part 2" some time in the future.
