Just rode on one of these a week ago and found that the upper front of Plaxton President
looked like that of Enviro 500...and this reminds me that Plaxton is now under Alexander
Dennis. Would I be able to comment that they are under the same "family tree"?
I remember that I have read a book (or an article) mentioned that the Enviro 500 body is evolved from the President body. So it's normal if you found them to share some similarities.

I have read a article that the Enviro 300 (First Gen) and Enviro 500 was developed by Plaxton's line (Under Transbus)

This is not news. I have been saying that ever since the E500 came out.
And I still think the President looks MUCH better than the E500, esp. the ...
The similarity is even more obvious in this livery...
I agree with you that the President looks better than E500.
Although E500 inherits some elements of the Plaxton body, the interior still shows
characteristic of Alexander body...without surprise at all .
The answer - in my opinion- is not so simple: The team desiging the President body [Plaxton] and the team that designed the alx400/500 bodies [Dennis/Transbus/Alexander] merged in 2001.
It took some time, and a change in personnel, but the design departments were also merged into one, and eventually, the E200/300/400/500 range was created. i would describe the E500 and the E200 as influenced by the Plaxton designs; the E400 design, which is later than the E500, has even less in common with the Plaxton body design.
