The last Routemaster on the 159 has just departed, and the relavent
news from BBC can be found here.
At last, its all over now. I was told that I was a good day but not as great as the 38's last day. Due to the high publicity and strict surveillance along the day. Spotters were told to do their snaps in a 'general manner' also the huge amount of press was 'blocking' a lot of spotters for their perfect shots. However, I would like to take this opportunity to thank AL the peole who were involved in making all of this happened.
well, the last bus to DEPART Marble arch was RM2217, but the last bus to finish in service was RM54.
The reason is that RM2217 [and RM5 +6 ] were running as far as Brixton Garage, while RM54 continued in service further on to Streatham station, some 15 minutes travel time.
I know that it is an old argument, and in London the issue has been discussed and still disputed as to which was the last tram to run in service in 1952!
the agreed definition now is that the last bus is always the bus that is still carrying passangers while no other bus does!
