According to the article from Ottawa Citizen, the driver was sent to the hospital due to inhaling exhaust fumes (possibly carbon monoxide) leaked into the new double-decker bus

"The gaskets fail “during extreme operating temperatures,” the transit service’s general manager told his bosses in a memo Friday morning. This has likely been a problem since OC Transpo took delivery of the buses earlier this fall, but things were particularly bad on one bus because of an “issue” with its turbo-charger.
Both the turbo-charger and the buses’ emissions-control systems (which burn exhaust at very high temperatures to get rid of contaminants right before blowing it out into the air) use heat and pressure, and the combination of flaws in both at the same time likely sent dangerous amounts of fumes into one bus, sending its driver to hospital...."
I wonder had such similar incident been reported in Hong Kong & in the UK with the newer Enviros.
