The 2nd MCV evolution bodied volvo B9TL entered service- on route H32.It is 11940kg vs 12556kg for the 1st MCV prototype still serving on routes 474/D7.
This bus is also called VM1, and is is being compared with the Scanias on route H32. It looks similar to the previous '474/D7' bus, excpet that
this new bus has more red paint [smile].
VM1 is not owned by London United, so maybe the garage staff forgot to put the company logo [London United RATP..]
London United did not buy volvo B9TL double decks, and their experience with Wright bodied volvos was not very satisfactory [they had VR226/7/8]- I don't know why
VM1 is supposed to be at AV for a few months, and then, maybe, move on to V garage for further comparisons. The intention at the moment is to run it on route 27- due to recieve E40H in late Jan 2013.
So far, VM1 has been used for one week; not all bus drivers are trained to drive the bus, so it may be taken off the road for short periods, till a suitable driver is found for it.
