Once my vw suddenly broken down, and have to call AAA to take the car to shop, I then decided to wait for buses, but guess what, I've missed the last buses in the morning, therefore, I've to wait for 1 hr for another route buses, then tansfer at the transit to another route (waited for 1/2), then travel for another 1/2, which took me total of 3 hours for a normal drive of 20 min to office, even my boss think I'm stupid of not either call a cab or rent a car...and that night, I went home my cab, which cause me $45 dollars...the next day, I finally borrow a car from a friend and drove to work.

No, there are many stops during the trip. Actually, I hv the schedule for Coast Starlight and I will type all the middle
stops when I got home. However, I can tell it stops at San Jose, Oakland and lots more.

Yes, public transportation in the US sucks! I once took Caltrain and missed the last bus to home. I ended up to walk about 2 hours along the dark, quiet, and cold streets!
But long haul trains are actually great and I love riding them especially when seeing freight trains passing by.
