Lets hope they will continue after 28/10/07... Since their demand on LHR-HKG is really heavy... And as most LHR-HKG pax took up the space of the flight, it made VS impossible to sell many LHR-S ...
As I rode VS back to Hong Kong for this May's and last Oct's half term,
the loading for passengers to get to Sydney from London were just a few,
most of the seats from LHR->HKG were all occupied by the HKG pax,
so that I understood the reasons for VS to get another one to be started to operated later this year.
P.S.: When did VS and BA start their services from LHR<->HKG??? |

BA has been in the Hong Kong <-> London service for many years (under the brand of Bristish Airways and BOAC).
And it was the only one to fly this "Longest Domestic" until CX's service launced in 1980. |

VS join the competition in 1994 (or 1993?).
I always wonder why the loading of HKG <-> SYD doesn't do well, as the timing is simlar to CX110 and CX100?

The main purpose for VS to extend their VS200/201 to SYD was to attract pax from LHR... Not to compete direct with CX on HKG-SYD...
But since VS200/201 have been filled up with mainly LHR-HKG pax, they couldnt get many LHR-SYD pax...
And by adding a new LHR-HKG flight, it helps them to pull pressure off VS200/201 and allow them to sell more LHR-SYD ticket...
So lets hope that VS would be able to gain more LHR-SYD pax with less LHR-HKG ticket being sold on VS200/201...
Having said that, when I flown with VS recently, it seems to me that they have began to pack up some more LHR-SYD pax...
But loading is still low since they have to balance the ticket sold on LHR-SYD and LHR-HKG on that 1Daily 300seater flight... |

How about QF's flight loading...
be they were going to SYD, from late OCT 2005, it had chnaged to MEL~
were the flights loading still low or much more better???~

When I came here to study,
it was 6 flights daily as well...~
When did CX add CX253 and CX 25 ...
During that 5years (1999-2004)... There has been limited expension on HKG-LHR route...
But VS did fly a 2Daily (1 A343, 1 B744) soon after 911 as transatlantic pax drop rapidly and VS move to concentrate on Asia market and use B744 on Asia routes instead of A343... But it return to 1Daily by 2002...
So during that 5years, it has been rather quiet on this route...
But before that, at around 1997/8... BA did have a Daily daylight flight on HKG-LHR, but was soon cut due to limited demand...
And during that 5years, I could feel the demand on the route are getting higher and higher as the ticket price fly high and becoming harder and harder to get seats...
Althought things have became better with 4Daily being added in the last 2years, but demand is still very high and ticket price still high due to increasing Chinese students in UK during the last few years... And the student number has rose rapidly during the last 3/4years, so rapidly expension on the route only occur during the last 2/3years...

Is it because VS is going to use A380 for VS200/201 after 2007?
(The passenger capacity is already enlarged and don't need to operate 2 flights) |
